Founded in 2019 by payments industry leaders and entrepreneurs Robert Kraal, Paul Buying and A.W De Vries, driven by experience gained from Bibit, Google, and Adyen and a vision of changing payments for the better, they have built a company that has created the new standard of payments.
Today, Silverflow is a diverse, international team of 80+ colleagues representing over 30 nationalities. What you'll do
Step into the role
Step into a position where legal expertise drives business strategy, not just compliance. We’re looking for a proactive Legal Counsel to join our team. A unique chance to help build and scale the legal function at a fast-growing, international fintech.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll be deeply involved in shaping and negotiating contracts, payments operations, and regulatory strategy, while helping the company expand into new markets. It’s ideal for someone with 5–10 years of law firm experience who wants to bring their expertise into a high-growth, entrepreneurial & commercial environment.
Core responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements with our international clients, vendors and a variety of partners.
- You understand the landscape of the payments industry and know how to draw the lines and connecting the various parties in the payment chain.
- Act as the go-to expert on regulatory and payment scheme requirements, advising on (global) payments compliance and acquiring. Think scheme rules, PSD2/3, DORA, IFR, and data privacy & security (GDPR and PCI DSS) and beyond.
- Manage legal risk while enabling the business to move fast, offering practical, business-focused solutions.
- Coordinate with external counsel and regulators as needed to unlock new opportunities.
Project-based and scaling work:
- Help establish and enhance legal and compliance frameworks.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to strengthen contracts and regulatory compliance.
- Share your expertise & gained insights with the rest of the organisation.
- Provide hands-on support for strategic initiatives.
Who you are
You’re a legal professional with a strong law firm background, eager to see how a fintech scales beyond traditional legal advisory. You’ll thrive if you:
- Have 5–10 years in a law firm or in-house legal team, ideally with experience in fintech, payments or technology.
- Have experience in drafting and negotiating commercial (SaaS and other ICT) contracts.
- Know how to find your way across law and regulations relevant for the payments industry.
- Are comfortable operating in ambiguity and building processes from scratch.
- Communicate clearly, translating complex legal issues into practical business advice.
- Have an entrepreneurial & commercial mindset, are proactive, hands-on, and thrive on making things work and then making them better.
- Collaborate confidently with founders, product, engineering, and compliance teams in and outside The Netherlands.
